Personal Use Licence

When you purchase a personalised song from Sonawave Music, you receive permission to use the delivered song and included files for personal, non-commercial purposes.
This Personal Use Licence explains what you may and may not do with your song.
1. Personal Use
You may use your personalised song for personal enjoyment and gifting.
You may:
- Listen to and enjoy the song privately.
- Give the song as a personal gift.
- Share the song with friends and family.
- Play the song at a private celebration or family event.
- Use it in a personal family video, slideshow or memory video.
- Download and store the supplied files for your personal use.
2. Personal Social-Media Sharing
You may share the song, lyric video or short extracts on your personal social-media accounts.
This permission applies to ordinary personal sharing that is not being used to advertise a business, promote products or generate commercial income.

3. Commercial and Business Use
This licence does not include business, advertising, promotional, professional or other commercial use.
Without prior written permission from Sonawave Music, you may not:
- Use the song in paid advertising or sponsored content.
- Use it to promote a company, service, product or organisation.
- Use it in business videos, branded campaigns or commercial events.
- Use it as background music for monetised commercial content.
- Licence or provide the song to another business.
Please contact Sonawave Music before any commercial use. A separate licence and additional fee may be required.
4. Selling and Distribution
Unless written permission has been provided, you may not:
- Sell or resell the song or any supplied file.
- Sublicense the song to another person or business.
- Commercially distribute copies of the song.
- Include the song in a product offered for sale.
- Charge another person to access, download or use the song.
5. Music-Streaming and Distribution Services
You may not release or distribute the song through Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music or another commercial music-distribution service without prior written permission from Sonawave Music.
You may not register the song with a distributor, record label, publishing service or collecting society as though you created or owned it.
6. Ownership
Purchasing a personalised song does not transfer ownership of the song, recording, lyrics, production or other supplied creative elements.
Sonawave Music retains its rights in the supplied song and files except where different terms have been agreed in writing.
You retain ownership of the personal stories, information and original wording that you provide to Sonawave Music.
7. Copyright Claims and Registration
You may not:
- Register the song or recording as entirely your own work.
- Claim that you composed, produced or performed the song.
- Submit a copyright claim against Sonawave Music.
- Register the song in a way that prevents Sonawave Music from using or protecting its own work.
You may truthfully describe the song as a personalised song created for you or for the intended gift recipient.
8. Editing and Adaptation
You may make reasonable edits for personal use, such as trimming the length for a private video or slideshow.
Without written permission, you may not:
- Alter the song and sell or commercially distribute the altered version.
- Use the instrumental to create a separate commercial recording.
- Remove ownership information in order to present the work as your own.
- Create commercial remixes, adaptations or derivative products from the supplied files.
9. Instrumental Versions
Where an instrumental version is included in your package, it is supplied under the same Personal Use Licence.
You may use it for personal listening, personal videos, private events and non-commercial family projects.
You may not record new vocals over the instrumental and commercially release, sell or distribute the resulting recording without written permission.
10. Lyric Videos, Lyrics PDFs and Certificates
Lyric videos, lyrics PDFs and gift certificates included with your package may be used and shared for personal gifting and personal social-media purposes.
These files may not be sold, commercially reproduced, offered as templates or used to promote another business without permission.
11. Intended Recipient
The customer may share the song and included files with the person for whom the song was created.
The intended recipient may also enjoy and personally share the song under the conditions of this licence.
This does not permit either the customer or recipient to transfer commercial rights to another person, organisation or business.
12. Public Platforms and Monetisation
Personal sharing on public social-media platforms is permitted.
However, use in content created mainly to generate advertising revenue, sponsorship income, product sales or other business benefit may require a commercial licence.
Please contact Sonawave Music when you are unsure whether your intended use is personal or commercial.
13. Licence Duration
The Personal Use Licence continues indefinitely, provided the song and supplied files are used according to these terms.
You do not need to pay an ongoing fee for ordinary permitted personal use.
14. Licence Restrictions
This licence is supplied to the purchasing customer and the intended gift recipient.
It may not be sold, sublicensed or transferred to a business, advertiser, publisher, distributor or other commercial user.
15. Breach of This Licence
If the song or supplied files are used outside the permissions granted by this licence, Sonawave Music may ask for the use to stop or for the relevant content to be removed.
Where suitable, Sonawave Music may offer an appropriate commercial licence and additional fee instead.
16. Your Consumer Rights
Nothing in this Personal Use Licence removes or limits your statutory rights under applicable UK consumer law.
This licence describes how the creative files may be used after delivery. It does not remove any legal remedy that may apply where a service or digital product is faulty, not as described or has not been supplied with reasonable care and skill.
17. Permission Requests
Please contact Sonawave Music before using the song for commercial, promotional, advertising, distribution or monetised purposes.
Explain how and where you would like to use the song so that we can confirm whether a separate licence is needed.
